PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

 

Earning a Varsity letter takes hard work and deidcation. One of the first steps to achieving success is knowing the requirements. Athletes can earn a varsity letter by scoring points for their team over the course of the season.  In cross country that translates to consistently earning a spot as one of the top 7 runners representing Wakefield.  In track and field that means earning 10 points or more over the course of the season. Points are earned in dual meets accordingly:  1st place = 5 pts, 2nd place = 3 pts, 3rd place = 1 pt

 

In addition, athletes can meet performance standards to earn a varsity letter or qualify for the state championship meet.
