Warriors Impress in Season Opener vs Watertown

The first cross country meet of 2020 is in the books as the Warriors took to the course against Watertown on Saturday. The boys were at home to open the new season while the girls traveled to Watertown. There were several impressive performances on both sides and both teams came away with wins on Saturday. For the boys team, they ran the new 5k home course for the first time and there were a lot of strong races. Let’s start with the top and group one. In his first cross country race, sophomore Ben Stratton secured the win with a strong time of 16:50. It’s been a long wait since the last official track/cross country practice was held in Wakefield, but that wait is finally over! The Wakefield Warriors cross country teams are back and they head into the season with high expectations but also a tough road ahead. The boys team is looking to continue to build on their past success while the girls look to bounce back this season and do the same.
